Hochkönig
Last weekend, I packed my camera and headed to Hochkönig for a little tech recce. Five years in Germany, and I’m still not over how the seasons here can completely transform a place. This time, though, winter decided to throw a curveball—it was warm. Like, surprisingly warm. The kind of day that makes you forget it’s still technically winter.
Hochkönig is stunning. The snow was there, but it felt softer, like it was already dreaming of spring. I spent the weekend wandering, scouting spots, and just soaking in the vibe. The light was incredible warm and golden, spilling over the snow and casting these long, dramatic shadows.
Oh, and I brought a new (well, old) friend along—a Revue 400SE I picked up recently. It’s a vintage gem, and I couldn’t resist taking it for some side quests. There’s something about shooting with an rangefinder that slows you down, makes you really think about each frame. I’m still getting to know it, but it feels so much like my first camera a Praktica L35 built in Germany.
Here are a few raw moments from the weekend. Think of it as a little visual diary. Hochkönig, you’ve got my heart. I’ll be back soon.
P.S. If you’ve got a favorite mountain spot, tell me about it!
